Switch

A built-in electronic module in a standard switch transforms the device into a smart switch and can also be controlled via the Smart Life app. In principle, any switch can be made smart. However, smart light switches are most commonly used in the home, where the switching can be programmed to a specific time or smartly.

The smart switch range also includes sockets and power strips such as the SIRO SL00407W smart socket and the SIRO SL00307W smart power strip. With these products, the power line can be switched on and off via a smart app, just like a switch.

Since a power outlet can be used flexibly anywhere, you can easily "smart-upgrade" many of your household appliances with minimal effort. One useful application would be to automate your decorative lamp based on a specific time or in combination with another switch.

Security

Most Smart Life devices probably fall into the security category, dividing them into monitoring, measuring, and locking functions. Monitoring includes various cameras and motion detectors. With a modern video camera like the SIRO SL01204W PTZ camera, equipped with an infrared sensor, speaker, and microphone, you can monitor an entire room day and night and record all movements. Using the Smart Life app, you can remotely control, move, and zoom in on the camera for a better view of objects. The built-in microphones and speakers also enable audio communication on both sides.

The smart doorbell works similarly. Equipped with a bell, video, and intercom, you can communicate with visitors remotely via the app. The wireless version can also be easily attached to the door without any installation.

A motion detector integrated with the Smart Life app can send the motion notification to your smartphone via push signal, just like a camera.

When it comes to measurement, numerous sensors are used to better protect your home against accidents or burglaries, for example. Water, gas, and smoke detectors not only sound an audible alarm in critical situations, but also simultaneously send warning signals to your smartphone, which can significantly contribute to preventing or reducing damage.

Other sensors, such as door/window sensors or vibration sensors, serve as detectors for monitoring access points or objects, and also as signal generators for scene creation in combination with other smart devices. The most common smart application is automatically turning down the heating as soon as a window is opened.

The locking mechanisms can also be made smart. A smart front door lock like the SIRO SL03612Z can be opened remotely using a fingerprint, numeric code, or the Smart Life app on your smartphone. The smart front door lock can also register every opening and send notifications to you if necessary.

Similar functions can also be found in other smart locks, such as the padlock.

energy

Energy is primarily about intelligent regulation of heating and air conditioning to save energy and increase your comfort.

For radiator heating, this is done by simply replacing the individual radiator thermostat. Battery-powered smart radiator thermostats look similar to conventional ones and are usually controlled and programmed via Bluetooth or Zigbee using the Smart Life app, like the SIRO radiator thermostats SL02105B and SL02205Z. Time programs, remote control, and scene creation then offer you all the options for controlling your heating system economically and smartly.

Central heating systems or underfloor heating can be converted to smart by replacing the room thermostat using the same principle, which is usually quite easy to implement.

Household

This includes all Smart Life devices around your own household, from lighting and entertainment to kitchen appliances.

The most commonly purchased and used device is probably the light bulb. Like many household appliances, Smart Life bulbs come with a Smart Life module built into them during production. This allows the bulbs to be controlled directly with a smartphone, without the need for a switch, after integration with the Smart Life app. A smart bulb offers much more than just switching on and off. A modern smart bulb also offers dimmer functions, light quality adjustment for warm or cool light, and countless color combinations, all of which can be set or programmed via the app.

Another useful example concerns entertainment. By using an IR (infrared) gateway such as the SIRO IR Gateway SL00607W, your entertainment systems, such as TVs and stereos, can be integrated into the Smart Life app and controlled via smartphone.

Smart Life devices also find their application in the kitchen. A smart kitchen scale, for example, not only measures the weight of food while preparing it, but also delivers the weighed data to your smartphone. The Smart Life app can analyze and save relevant data about the ingredients, such as calorie content, fat content, carbohydrates, etc., for you.

Control center

A gateway in a smart home is a device that connects two systems. A gateway is often used to establish a connection between Smart Life devices using Zigbee or Bluetooth and the home's Wi-Fi network. Since our smartphones can access our Wi-Fi network, the Smart Life devices are integrated with our smartphones. We can then control the devices with our smartphones via an app.

In this case, a gateway converts data or control commands from Zigbee or Bluetooth into WiFi and vice versa in order to enable communication between smartphone and end devices.

Typically, a gateway converts signals from only one specific wireless standard to Wi-Fi standards. A Zigbee gateway like the SIRO SL02905Z can only control Zigbee devices.

However, the SL030004E multi-channel gateway can control Smart Life devices using both Zigbee and Bluetooth wireless standards. For users with devices using different wireless standards, one gateway is sufficient.

Another type of gateway is the IR gateway. It establishes the connection between infrared (IR) and Wi-Fi. It is required if you want to operate devices with infrared remote controls, such as a TV, in a smart way.

Sun protection

Your sun protection systems such as roller shutters, curtains or blinds can also be smartly converted with little effort.

For roller shutters or awnings, you simply need to replace the old switch with a smart switch. Since such smart switches usually work with Wi-Fi and can be connected directly to Wi-Fi routes, the use of a gateway is usually not even necessary.

With the Smart Roller Shutter Switch, all the convenience of Smart Home can also be incorporated into sun protection systems.

Both SIRO roller shutter switches SL00110D are compatible with the German standard and fit the most common flush-mounted boxes.

To automate curtains or drapes, a track with an electric drive, i.e., an electric curtain track, is used. If a smart module is installed in the drive, the system and all associated functions can be intelligently controlled and programmed.

Typically, a rail is ordered in a custom length, or one buys a standard length and has to make do with it somehow. With the SIRO SL00502W electric curtain rail, a custom length is possible without any assembly work when purchasing a standard product. The patented pull-up system allows the rail to be pulled to the desired length and secured with a single screwdriver. A super simple and innovative system.

The solution for smartly converting interior roller blinds is also very innovative. Using a tubular drive, also known as a tubular motor, a tubular drive is inserted into the roller blind's rotating shaft and drives the blind by rotating itself.

The tubular motors are usually powered by batteries to keep the system wireless. If necessary, drives with a 230V or DC connection are also used.

As with other devices, drives are equipped with a smart module and can be smartly controlled with or without a gateway, depending on the radio standard used.

Health

In the health sector, smart products that measure, store and analyze health-related data are particularly important.

A smart Swatch or smart bathroom scale not only measures your data, but also sends it to the app on your smartphone. The app stores and analyzes the data. This way, you can always keep an eye on your health and its development and respond accordingly.

Wildlife

Smart Life also offers interesting devices for our four-legged friends at home. A good example is a smart pet feeder. Smart pet feeders not only dispense food automatically via a timer or remote control, but can also be equipped with a camera and intercom, allowing for remote monitoring and communication.

Now it's your turn!
